Subject: Defaming Muslims

A reader calls Mitt Romney's remarks linking Islam and violence "careless and dishonest." (9/5/08) But a 2006 Pew Survey shows that about 26% of US Muslims between 18 and 29 years of age support suicide bombing and that the number rises to 35% in England and 42% in France. What of teachings like this. "In the Hadith Ibn Abbaas said : The Messenger of Allah said, 'Whoever changes his (Islamic) religion, kill him.' Al-Bukhary (number 6922)"? Is it a surprise that 36% of young Muslims in England believe that those who convert from Islam to another religion should be punished by death? Where are the courageous Muslims who risk condemning these attitudes and practices? Instead, Muslim apologists claim that the questions in the survey were vague and the answers taken out of context due to prejudice.
