Ross and his brother, Tim Olson, experimented with chemical substances in the basement of their parents' home in the late 1960's. No, they did not intentionally inhale them (although some sort of brain damage has been hypothesized by family and friends). Rather, they sprayed, squirted and otherwise launched them at paper targets in an attempt to prove that art can be achieved by accident.
