Inertia

I know I'm wrong.
Deep down inside
I know I must agree with you
And yet, of course, I won't admit
To such a shameful fact.

Because, you see,
I've made a stand.
I've publicly declared my view.
And even more, I've based my plans
For several years
Upon this point.

To change it now
Would thus admit
I've wasted effort, time and life.
And so, you now can clearly see,
I simply must agree with me.
I think I'd maybe change a lot
If I could still pretend I've not.
